We are currently seeking passionate, creative, and dependable Piano Teachers to facilitate music programming within schools and community settings throughout Norristown and the surrounding areas. Piano Teachers will work directly with students in classroom and small-group settings, providing engaging instruction that develops musical skills, confidence, creativity, and self-expression.

Position Details
Compensation: Piano Teachers may choose to serve as volunteers or receive a $30 stipend per class taught.
Schedule: Morning and afternoon classes during the regular school day, with occasional after-school and summer opportunities available. We also offer classes on the weekends.
Location: Schools and community sites throughout Norristown and surrounding areas region.
Status: Part-time/Contract Piano Teacher or Volunteer Piano Teacher.
Flexible opportunities are available based on program and school needs.
Piano Teachers who choose to volunteer may be eligible to receive documentation of volunteer service hours, letters of recommendation, and professional development opportunities through Expressive Path.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate piano lessons aligned with program goals
- Teach fundamental and intermediate piano skills
- Facilitate individual and group instruction in classroom settings
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and confidence through music
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Track student attendance, participation, and progress
- Complete required documentation and program reports following each class
- Communicate professionally with school staff, students, families, and Expressive Path leadership
- Adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs, skill levels, and learning styles
- Represent Expressive Path professionally within schools and community settings
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in piano performance and instruction
- Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, or working with youth
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned locations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to complete documentation and reporting requirements in a timely manner
- Experience teaching beginner piano students preferred
- Music education, performance, or related experience strongly preferred
Clearance Requirements
All Piano Teachers must obtain and maintain the following Pennsylvania clearances prior to working with students:
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check (Act 34)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
- FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), if applicable
- Pennsylvania Mandated Reporter Training Certificate
