Museum Outreach Facilitator (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Museum Outreach Facilitator are to support the Education Department and the Discovery Lab on Wheels Program with targeted assignments designated by FWMSH Outreach.  Facilitators will implement Outreach programs at program sites and organize materials and resources associated with the program. This position reports to the Outreach Assistant Manager.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Implementation of Museum Outreach & Discovery Lab on Wheels Programming:

  • Transport, load, and unload materials at Museum and offsite locations (able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds).
  • Check in at program site upon arrival.
  • Set up in classroom, lab or designated location.
  • Facilitate student learning during session.
  • Interact with program site representative.
  • Manage inventory and materials and replenishment as needed.
  • Complete programming reports and provide feedback.
  • Communicate with Museum staff effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • The ability to work well with children and be an effective problem solver
  • Experience in educational lesson implementation with a variety of age groups
  • Possess a respect for all children, celebrating their unique learning styles and abilities
  • Demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm in the delivery and implementation of Program lessons
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing one; experience working with children or in youth development settings.
