MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST

Bring your storytelling A-game to WVVA (a Gray Local Media station) in Bluefield, WV as a Multimedia Journalist! We’re looking for an ambitious, resourceful journalist who’s hungry to chase original, hard-news stories viewers won’t see anywhere else.

If you’re a high-energy storyteller who loves creating content for TV, web and social media, you’ll fit right in. You’ll get hands-on training in every part of TV news production along with opportunities to anchor and work with modern, industry-leading equipment.

Duties: (include but not limited to)

  • Pitch and produce original, leadable stories daily for on‑air broadcasts and digital platforms.
  • Investigate tips and information using strong research and critical thinking to uncover the deeper story.
  • Shoot, write, edit and upload video, photos and stories optimized for TV, web and social media.
  • Cultivate local sources and develop relationships that provide timely, community‑focused reporting.
  • Report on‑air, coordinate live shots and occasionally anchor as needed.
  • Perform reliably under deadline pressure while exercising sound news judgment and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate respectfully with newsroom teammates and contribute to a fast‑paced, audience‑first environment.

Qualifications: (include but not limited to)

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience as a multimedia journalist and on‑air anchor preferred.
  • Excellent news judgment and the ability to tell compelling stories across platforms.
  • Familiarity with broadcast newsroom workflows; experience with ENPS and Edius a plus.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drivers record check.
