About the job

Emax Financial & Real Estate Advisory Services (Emax)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days in office)

Employment type: Full-time

Salary range: $150,000–$165,000 base, plus performance bonus and benefits

The role

We are hiring a Manager to lead client engagements and project teams across two of Emax’s service groups — Real Estate and Mortgage. This is a high-visibility, hands-on leadership role: you will own delivery on assigned engagements, manage and develop analysts, and serve as a primary point of contact for clients.

This position also offers a clear growth path. The right candidate will be positioned to lead our Mortgage Service Group within the next couple of years. If you have a passion for mortgage/housing finance, this is your opportunity to build something significant.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and manage client engagements end to end — planning, staffing, budget, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Build and review financial models, valuations, and quantitative analyses supporting real estate transactions, housing finance structures, and mortgage portfolios.
  • Develop clear, decision-ready deliverables — memos, briefings, and presentations — for senior stakeholders.
  • Manage, mentor, and review the work of analysts; set standards and develop the next layer of talent.
  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact, translating complex analysis into practical guidance.

What we’re looking for

Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, public policy, business, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of public-sector consulting, federal advisory, or equivalent experience working directly with state and local housing authorities (such as NYCHA, NYC HDC, HPD, or New York State HCR).
  • Hands-on real estate transaction experience — direct involvement in deals through structuring, underwriting, due diligence, closing, or comparable transactional work.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engagements, workstreams, or teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present to senior stakeholders.
  • U.S. work authorization.

Preferred

  • A graduate degree (MBA, MPA, MPP, or a master’s in a related field).
  • Experience or strong interest in mortgage finance, housing finance, or mortgage/asset advisory — the area in which this role offers a path toward group leadership.
  • Familiarity with federal mortgage and housing programs (FHA/HUD, VA, Ginnie Mae) or local New York public finance mechanisms (such as HDC tax-exempt bonds or HPD subsidies).
  • Experience with federal clients such as NAVFAC, HUD, VA, GSA, or Treasury, and with federal procurement.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Proposal and business development experience.

What we offer

  • Hybrid schedule with two remote days (Mondays and Fridays) and three in-office days (Tuesday through Thursday).
  • Competitive base salary of $150,000–$165,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Performance bonus.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with employer contribution.
  • Paid time off and professional development support.
  • Fast-track leadership opportunity with direct access to firm leadership from day one.

About Emax

Emax Financial & Real Estate Advisory Services (Emax) is a women-owned small business providing federal real estate, housing, and financial advisory services. For more than three decades, Emax has advised federal agencies — including the Department of the Navy (NAVFAC), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the General Services Administration (GSA), and the U.S. Department of the Treasury — on complex real estate transactions, military housing finance, and mortgage and asset strategy. We operate from offices in New York City, Washington, D.C., and San Diego, and deliver our work through three service groups: Military Housing, Real Estate, and Mortgage.

We are a firm where capable people get real ownership early, work directly with senior leadership, and see the full arc of sophisticated federal engagements rather than a narrow slice of them.

Equal opportunity

Emax is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

To apply, submit your resume and a brief cover letter describing your relevant advisory and management experience to Jobs@emaxllc.com.
