Position Title: Learn to Skate and Class Coordinator (Ice Admin)
Location: Mount Vernon Rec Center, 2017 Belle View Blvd, Alexandria, VA 22307
Hours: Up to 30 hours per week, evenings and weekends are required
Salary: $20 – $25 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
Overview: Support the daily operations of the Mount Vernon Rec Center ice skating program! This position pro-vides administrative support for ice programming, including customer service, instructor coordination, scheduling, and program operations to help ensure a positive experience for participants and staff.
Duties:
- Reviews registration reports for all FCPA Ice Classes and contacts wait-listed customers to fill open spaces.
- Responds to inquiries/phone calls/requests coming in direct or via transfer from registration unit.
- Answers questions from front desk and registration unit staff. Assists in preparation and delivery of the Instructor Trainings. Assists in the preparation for class starts and check in for class starts.
- Provides support for customers and MVRC staff.
- Handles cancellation phone calls and emails as assigned.
- Prepares and distributes updated rosters to instructors and front desk as needed.
- Prepare written responses to customer complaints.
- Helps reconcile contracted instructor payments against lessons taught.
- Assists with instructor communication.
- Assists with ice issues and problem solving.
- Assists with other tasks and special events as required.
- Compiles and assists in ice data and financial reporting.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of administrative or clerical experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with filing, recordkeeping, and general office procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Customer service experience (in person, phone, or email).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or higher in business, administration, communications, or a related field.
- Two or more years of administrative support experience.
- Experience working in a municipal, parks & recreation, or facility based environment.
- Familiarity with scheduling software, facility management systems, or registration platforms.
- Experience supporting ice skating programs or an understanding of ice sports.
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience creating reports, spreadsheets, and basic data tracking.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
- Experience with event coordination or program support.
Note: *This position is scheduled to work a minimum 1,040 hours and no more than a maximum of 1,560 hours in a calendar year. This position is eligible to receive limited benefits, including: Medical/Vision/Dental Insurance Coverage, Flexible Spending Program, and Deferred Compensation.
