About Intraoperative Neuromonitoring:
Intraoperative neuromonitoring assesses the function of the nervous system during surgery. By monitoring the somatosensory, motor, and auditory pathways, as well as individual nerve roots and EEG; the IOM tech provides feedback to the surgical team about the current and predictive function post operatively for the patient. The intraoperative neuromonitoring technician is responsible for relaying information to the surgical team, aiding in preventing iatrogenic injury.

Located in Kansas City, MO, covering the Kansas City Metro Area on both the Kansas and Missouri sides, Seastnan Medical is a small business looking to grow and train new intraoperative neuromonitoring technicians. The daily schedule can be demanding and requires flexibility. Our technologists rotate through a call schedule to provide care at all times. Procedures monitored range from procedures as simple as basic spine procedures, spinal cord tumor resections, carotid endarterectomies, extending to complex craniotomies.

Job Description:
The trainee will be responsible for completing Seastnan’s classroom and clinical training program. The trainee will be assigned to clinical trainers. Upon completion and competency sign off, the trainee will perform intraoperative neuromonitoring at facilities associated with Seastnan Medical. Upon eligibility for the CNIM exam, the trainee will have 3 months of preparation to take the board certification exam. Upon passing the CNIM exam, the tech will be compensated for the cost of the passed exam. The training period is paid, and upon passing the CNIM there is a raise reflective of the new status. If desired, upon successful passing of the CNIM exam, technologists can train further on more advanced IONM modalities and surgical procedures.
Strong communication, flexibility, responsibility, as well as maintaining a calm demeanor during stressful situations are necessary components for candidates. Candidates will begin with simple cases and then grow to learn and monitor more advanced modalities and surgical procedures.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree required, science background and advanced degrees preferred. Trainees are fully trained in intraoperative neuromonitoring with board examination preparation onsite
