ABOUT THE ROLE
The Early Intervention Service Coordinator/Developmental Specialist (Floater) serves in a flexible, regional capacity, providing support across multiple service areas to ensure continuity of services, compliance, and timely service delivery. Service Coordinators and Developmental Specialists serve as team members with other service providers to help children and their families obtain needed services. This EI position is not assigned a fixed caseload, but is deployed based on regional needs, staffing gaps, and service demands. The position requires regular travel and flexibility to support multiple regional centers based on program needs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Degreed in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related human service field accepted by Alabama’s Early Intervention System (AEIS).
- One year of experience in the Alabama Early Intervention System
- Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment under applicable state laws.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) or more years of professional experience within the Alabama Early Intervention System (AEIS) or a similar early intervention program.
- Experience working with individuals who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind, or have autism spectrum disorder.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain program compliance with AEIS through the Monitoring Review process; maintain records and documentation in a timely, organized manner.
- Case Coordination: Accept and process referrals; serve as the single point of contact for assigned cases, assisting families in obtaining services and advocating for children.
- IFSP Development: Facilitate and participate in the development, review, and evaluation of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP), including Six-Month and Annual Reviews.
- Direct Service: Plan and conduct home visits, parent workshops, and playgroups; work directly with children to support developmental progress.
- Team Collaboration: Serve as a team member with staff, therapists, and providers across multiple regional centers.
- Operational Support: Coordinate evaluations and assessments; provide coverage for vacancies, leave, and increased caseload demand as directed.
- Reporting: Complete Provider Services Rendered Forms; collect data on child and family progress to support accountability and outcomes.
- Travel Requirement: Regular travel across assigned regions is required to ensure continuity of services.
- Professional Development:
- Complete 150 clock hours of Blindness, Deafness, DeafBlindness, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other exceptionalities training through AIDB-approved workshops.
- Obtain certification in “Journey through Early Intervention in Alabama-Level I” and “Message Revitalized: Journey Level II” within three (3) months of employment.
- Obtain “Alabama Approved” status for conducting Routines-Based Interview (RBI) and Routines-Based Home Visiting (RBHV) within twelve (12) months.
- Obtain a sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL within the first twenty-four (24) months of employment.

SALARY: $ 56,210 – 77,213 Scale D4 Rank 56
