The Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting in creating a safe, loving, and stimulating environment tailored to the developmental needs of our youngest learners. You will foster early cognitive, motor, and social-emotional growth while maintaining strict health and safety standards.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- bottle feeding, introducing solid foods, and diaper changes, play with children.
- Adhere to safe sleep practices (e.g., “Safe Sleep” guidelines) and monitor napping infants.
- Ensure all diapering, feeding, and sleeping areas are sanitized regularly to prevent the spread of illness.
- Assist in planning and facilitating age-appropriate, sensory-rich activities (e.g., tummy time, singing, reading, and motor-skill play).
- Assist in observing and tracking each child’s development, logging milestones and sharing progress with parents.
- Provide a calm, predictable, and responsive routine that builds trust and emotional security
- Maintain open, daily communication with parents regarding their child’s day, eating/sleeping habits, and milestones.
- Partner with parents to align center routines with home care routines
- Supervise children constantly to ensure a hazard-free classroom.
- Comply with state licensing regulations, child-to-teacher ratios, and facility policies
- Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with an infant/toddler/Preschool endorsement, or an Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field is highly preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a licensed infant/toddler/Preschool classroom or professional childcare setting preferred.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire).
- Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., frequently bend, stoop, sit on the floor, and carry children for extended periods.
- Patience & Nurturing: A genuine love for children and the ability to remain calm and comforting during fussy periods.
- Observation: Keen attention to detail to monitor child development and subtle behavioral changes.
- Multitasking: Ability to manage simultaneous needs (e.g., feeding one child while changing another) in a fast-paced environment.
