The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been educating, inspiring, and providing enjoyment to our community for over 100 years. Come and be a part of an organization where you can work and have fun at the same time. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Director of Education to join our Education department.

Under limited supervision, the Director of Education will manage Natures Neighborhood, and all education programs and functions for the Toledo Zoo. The role will prioritize the zoo’s education programming based on education value, audience reach and revenue generated. The Director of Education will manage and develop education programs that generate revenue while being in accordance with state mandated science curriculum. Duties will include managing education programs, developing new audiences for education programs, acting as a liaison with education organizations such as public schools, universities and other informal educational organizations. This role will be responsible for performing supervisory duties for staff, which includes instructing, training, planning, assigning and reviewing work, and more. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires time worked in excess of forty hours per week. Reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Mission Officer.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology or related field.
  • Three to five years’ experience in informal Education, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
