Performs various journalistic and public relations duties (including preparing, writing, and assisting in the dissemination of public information, publications, television programs, website content and social media) within the Administration Department.
***This is a permanent Part-time position and requires a flexible schedule which includes weekends, evenings/nights, and early mornings.
Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated):
- Must be currently enrolled in a college or university with a major in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related field.
- Must submit official transcripts prior to closing date of posting.
- Intermediate in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign or similar video/picture editing software.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Intermediate in digital camera photography.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, writing skills and graphic layout and design ability.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in creating, editing and updating publications, fliers, brochures, and website content.
- Conducts research, monitors media coverage and compiles reports on social media related to government initiatives and programs.
- Assists with planning and execution of social media campaigns and public service announcements.
- Participates in creating content for social media.
- Brainstorm new content ideas and initiatives with the team.
- Responsible for gathering, writing, and editing material to be released to broadcasting media outlets, magazines, and the general public.
- Attends special events to assist with documenting and capturing photos, and at times post-edit videos and pictures to share on social media. .
- Maintains and updates contact lists for media and community stakeholders.
- Support the communications team in daily administrative tasks.
