POSITION
This document outlines the responsibilities, requirements, and expectations for the Digital Ready BioTech Lab Leader for the Summer 2026 program. This is an in-person, seasonal position based at Digital Ready’s Future of Work Lab, 3377 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
As a BioTech Lab Leader, you will support high school students as they explore biology and biotechnology through engaging, hands-on laboratory experiences in a rigorous and supportive learning environment.
SUMMER STUDIOS 2026
The Digital Ready Summer Studio is a six-week, hands-on learning experience for young adults ages 16–25, designed to introduce students to college-level biology while providing exposure to careers in the biotechnology industry.
As a BioTech Lab Leader, you will support the Lead Instructor in delivering engaging laboratory experiences and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment. You will assist with laboratory preparation, co-facilitate instruction, provide academic support to students, and help ensure the safe and effective operation of daily lab activities. Lab Leaders also serve as mentors and role models, encouraging students as they build technical skills, confidence, and career readiness.
The Summer Studio runs July 6 through August 14, 2026, Monday through Friday, at Digital Ready’s Future of Work Lab, 3377 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. Lab Leaders are expected to participate in staff planning and training before the program begins and must be available to work on-site for the duration of the Summer Studio.
RESPONSIBILITIES

The BioTech Lab Leader reports to the Lead Facilitator and Project Manager. Working collaboratively with the instructional team, the Lab Leader supports the successful delivery of the Summer Studio by preparing laboratory materials, co-facilitating hands-on learning experiences, and helping students develop the skills needed for success in biotechnology education and future careers.
Ensure Student Success
- Collaborate with the Student Success Coach to address individual student needs and remove barriers to learning.
- Respond to assigned student concerns within 24 hours.
- Meet regularly with the Lead Instructor to support student learning and progress.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment where students can succeed academically and personally.
Serve as a Teaching Assistant
- Prepare laboratory materials and equipment before each session.
- Co-facilitate laboratory instruction alongside the Lead Instructor.
- Build positive relationships with students that encourage confidence, curiosity, and self-discipline.
- Participate in weekly reflection and planning meetings.
- Monitor student progress using the Academic Data Dashboard.
- Provide additional instructional support and learning resources to students who need them.
Use Data Effectively
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance using Digital Ready’s data systems.
- Report student concerns and trends to the Project Manager.
- Collect and share feedback to help improve curriculum, instructional practices, and future program offerings.
COMPENSATION
The BioTech Lab Leader will be compensated at a rate of $20 per hour. Hours are tracked through Gusto, and employees are paid bi-weekly via direct deposit. Timesheet corrections must be submitted by Friday at 6:00 PM each week and approved by the appropriate manager.
