Position Summary
An Inside Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales from both existing and new customers while increasing account penetration and market share. Client interactions may include product presentations, customer follow-up, and end-user sales support. This position does not have negotiation or decision-making authority.
Primary Responsibilities (not all-inclusive)
- Support the Branch Manager and/or Assistant Sales Manager by acting as an extension of the outside sales team to proactively grow the customer base.
- Generate qualified sales opportunities by researching and compiling lists of prospective customers through business directories, online resources, networking, and other lead sources.
- Conduct cold calls to prospective customers generated from external lead sources.
- Identify key decision-makers within target accounts and initiate the sales process.
- Develop existing accounts and expand sales opportunities within the customer base.
- Collaborate with Customer Support to monitor orders through completion, assist with collections, resolve discrepancies, and make necessary transaction updates.
- Maintain and expand the prospect database while overcoming customer objections.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of products and services. Work with the Quality and Production departments as needed to meet customer requirements.
- Assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Make outbound follow-up calls and emails to existing customers.
- Respond to inbound sales inquiries and convert prospects into customers.
- Explain product and service features, provide pricing, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales orders and reports.
- Enter new customer information and update existing customer records in the company database.
- Conduct customer presentations, independently or alongside outside sales representatives, to identify and develop sales opportunities.
- Attend sales training, product demonstrations, trade shows, conventions, and meetings as directed by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives.
