Make a lasting impact in the lives of children by joining our before and after school care team! As a School Age Child Care Assistant Teacher, you will support the Site Supervisor in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for children in grades K–6. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with kids, love to play, and are looking for meaningful part-time work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with supervision and engagement of children in daily activities
  • Support the implementation of curriculum, games, crafts, and learning opportunities
  • Help ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all participants
  • Promote positive behavior and serve as a role model for children
  • Assist with daily routines such as check-in/out, snack distribution, and transitions
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and fellow staff
  • Maintain program policies and help ensure compliance with licensing standards

 

Work Schedule (school year 2026-2027): Monday – Friday 6:25 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must meet the qualifications for Assistant Teacher under DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers
  • Experience working with children ages 5–12 preferred
  • A positive attitude and a passion for working with school-age kids
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Patience, flexibility, and creativity are a must
  • Must demonstrate the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
  • Must complete a health examination and fingerprint background check prior to employment

Certifications (Required within 60 days of hire):

  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
