• Message from Dean Romeo

Welcome to the School of Education where we seek to recruit bright and creative students to join us in our work to improve K-12 education and leadership in the state and region. Our programs, which address education professions including teaching, counseling, reading specialist, and educational leadership, are among the most important in the world.

Please use the links to the left to explore the wide array of high quality undergraduate and graduate programs we offer here in the School of Education at Monmouth University. Monmouth education graduates currently serve as teachers, reading specialists, school counselors, learning disabilities teacher consultants, school principals, and superintendents throughout New Jersey and the country.

As Dean of the School of Education, it is my professional privilege to work with highly qualified and dedicated faculty, administrators, advisors, and staff who are committed to providing a learning environment which enables all students to be successful in their programs and view learning and reflection as a lifelong pursuit.

All School of Education certification programs include extensive supervised field experiences in local K-12 schools. The school’s Office of Certification, Field Placements, and School Partnerships coordinates and supervises all field placements. The office also helps students process all necessary paperwork to complete the state credentialing process.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing high-quality advising to enable students to complete their programs in a timely manner. All faculty serve as student advisors. In addition, the school has four professional administrators who provide advising services year round. New student orientations are held at the start of each program, and the school holds student focus groups each semester to solicit feedback that is used to improve our programs. Our programs also have advisory boards comprised of current and former students and faculty members. We regularly survey our current and former students as well as employers to obtain feedback on the effectiveness of our programs.

Finally, we are engaged in collaborative K-12 School Partnerships. Our partnerships with many local school districts provide multiple opportunities for our students to teach, tutor, mentor, and collaborate with P-12 students in local school settings. In addition, our faculty as well as the teachers and administrators in the districts collaboratively design and conduct research and professional development in a joint effort to positively improve P-12 student learning. We hope you will join us and participate in these important educational endeavors.

    Lynn Romeo,
