Photo of Delaney B., Writing Assistant
Hello! My name is Delaney and I am an English major with a double minor in mathematics and global sustainability. I am a student officer for both the Monmouth University Pep Band and the Monmouth Outdoors Club. Outside of school-related activities, I enjoy hiking, going to concerts, fixating on period dramas and daydreaming of the unattainable. Since high school I’ve enjoyed helping friends with papers and helping others in general, so I look forward to working with all of you!

Hi! My name is Faith. I am currently a graduate student in Monmouth’s Creative Writing M.A./MFA program and a graduate research assistant in the English Department. I received my B.A. in English from Thomas Edison State University. Aside from being a writer, I am also an amateur dog trainer, herpetoculturist, and all-around lover of animals. If I have free time, you can probably find me hiking a trail somewhere with my dog, Taurus. I believe that every student deserves to be confident in their writing, and I am excited to work with you to help you achieve that!

Photo of Professor Cavallo
I received my M.A. in English from Monmouth University, and I’m currently enrolled in our new MFA Creative Writing program. I’ve spent the last two summers tutoring with Monmouth’s EOF program, and I’ve been teaching composition courses for five years (EN 101 & 102). My favorite thing about teaching composition is connecting with my students through their writing and helping them grow as both writers and thinkers. In turn, I’ve found that I learn quite a bit from them! I’m looking forward to my third year tutoring for Writing Services. In my free time I can be found photographing wildlife, pets, and concerts, as well as working on my first collection of creative nonfiction personal essays, and playing clarinet in local concert bands.

Charlotte Edwards - MU Writing Assistant
Hello! My name is Charlotte and I am currently a Sophomore at Monmouth, majoring in English with a Concentration in Creative Writing. On campus, I am a peer mentor for the Transfer Students Mentorship Program and am working with the Monmouth Artists for Diversity and Inclusion program in the development of their second compilation album, MADI 2. I have always had a love for writing; however, my passion tripled in my courses this past semester as a new transfer student at the university. This was, especially, facilitated in my Introduction to Creative Writing during the Fall 2021 semester, as we mostly worked on creating and developing upon personal poems, short stories, and satires ranging from human-kind’s relationship with nature to overcoming both personal and community hurdles, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Being able to take a specific emotion or concept and expand upon it utilizing relevant details and intricate descriptions is one of writing’s most powerful capabilities, and I feel that it has allowed me to forge more meaningful connections with peers as well as myself. Venturing outside of my academic studies, I enjoy reading, writing poetry and short stories, spending time with my family and my dog, Tootsie, going on walks, and dancing. I am so excited to join the Writing Services team and to use my deep passion for writing to help students further cultivate their creative palette!

Olivia Frew - MU Writing Assistant
Hi! My name is Olivia, and I am a sophomore English and Secondary Education major. When I’m not doing homework, I’m either reading or playing Animal Crossing on my Nintendo Switch. I love writing and I am excited to help others build their skills and feel confident in what they create.

She has also worked with the Monmouth Review in the past, and hopes to one day work in the publishing field. An aspiring author, Mallory hopes to one day publish a novel of her own.

Photo of Professor Lauren Sampson
I am proud to say that I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Monmouth University, and have been an adjunct professor at Monmouth since 2002, and at Kean University since 2009. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a writing assistant with Monmouth’s EOF Program. In 2007 I began tutoring in the Writing Services department at Monmouth, and the experience has been truly rewarding. Writing on an academic level can be extremely challenging for students, so our goal in writing services is to help students become better writers and, in turn, increase their overall academic success. I try to bring my love for writing to the students I work with, and encourage good writing in all aspects of life.
