Department of Educational Counseling and Leadership

Welcome

Our programs are distinguished by their competency-based training through extensive community partnerships and internship opportunities.

About the Department

Two programs are housed in this department: Educational Counseling and Educational Leadership. These programs are distinguished by their competency-based training through extensive community partnerships and internship opportunities. The curriculum features activities and experiential learning opportunities that are fully integrated in course assignments and facilitation exercises.

Across the department, faculty are deeply committed to providing students with the full experience of social justice advocacy, as illustrated by the community service projects led by the faculty, including the Monmouth Future Scholars Program, Violence Prevention and Early Intervention Program, Central Jersey Consortium for Equity and Excellence, Superintendent’s Academy, Principal’s Academy, and the IDEA Exchange Program. Collectively, faculty members are conducting research in areas related to social justice, advocacy, marginalized populations in school/university settings, college student development, and alcohol misuse. Both the professional school counseling program and university/student affairs track are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
