The websites on this list are provided for Monmouth University student’s use and information. This list is not exhaustive, and new sites will be added as appropriate from time to time. General Job Search Sites

Indeed: Indeed is the largest career website on the internet, with over two million unique users per month. It aggregates job postings from thousands of websites, job boards, or employer listings. Job seekers can utilize this site to search for jobs by position title, desired salary, company, or experience level. Almost any type of job can be found here, and the customization options are excellent. It is highly endorsed by MU Career Development.

CareerBuilder: One of the largest online employment sites is CareerBuilder; users can search for jobs, explore careers in different industries, and read articles on a variety of career topics such as interviewing, resumes, and salaries. A free account must be created to upload a resume, save jobs, and apply to positions on the site.

Glassdoor: A site best known for its company reviews, Glassdoor can also be utilized to search for jobs and assess salary options. In order to fully access the site, users must create a free account.

Internships: This site is designed to help college students and recent graduates find internships, entry-level positions, or student jobs. After making a free account, applicants can apply for positions right from the site.

Monster: As the second largest job website behind Indeed, Monster is a widely used, free job search site, giving job seekers the chance to search by location, keywords, or skills. It is primarily used by those seeking lower to mid-level employment openings.

QuadJobs:: This service matches college students with local jobs to earn extra cash. Typical jobs posted include babysitter, errand runner, home care, party staff, and other types of temporary “odd jobs”. There is no fee for students to participate. Students can work jobs to match their schedule.

Simply Hired: Simply Hired is a free employment site, similar to Indeed and Monster. Job applicants can search by keyword or location to find job opportunities within the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and 23 other countries across the world.

WayUp: Through WayUp, users can search for a variety of entry level and internship opportunities via keyword or location. In order to use the site, a free account must be created, and users can also register to receive email alerts about job openings.

ZipRecruiter : ZipRecruiter is a free, leading online employment marketplace and is rated the #1 Job Search app for iPhone and Android. Powered by AI-driven smart matching technology, ZipRecruiter actively connects millions of all-sized businesses and job seekers through innovative mobile, web, and email services, as well as partnerships with the best job boards on the web.

Websites for Anthropology, History, Political Science, and Public Policy Majors/Graduates

American Anthropological Association: The American Anthropological Association provides a site which can be used to research the areas in which anthropologists can work, such as academia, government, businesses, or non-profits.

American Historical Association: Confused about what you can do with your history degree? The American Historical Association describes the many options that are available to those studying history, such as working as educators, advocates, researchers, information managers, communicators, or in business settings.

American Political Science Association (Currently inactive): There are many ways one can use their political science degree to create a successful career. This link provides an overview for those exploring careers or jobs political science, and lists sectors in which Poli Sci majors are employed.

American Political Science Association (Currently inactive): This link provides job-seekers with over 30 job search sites specific to political science or government positions. These job search sites include areas such as journalism/media, research, foreign affairs, government, non-profits, and higher education.

Anthropology Jobs on Indeed and Public Policy Jobs on Indeed: Students studying anthropology or public policy can use Indeed to search for jobs, by sifting through thousands of job postings to come up with a list of related opportunities.

National Council on Public History: The National Council on Public History is a professional membership association to support those within the field of public history. History and anthropology majors can use this site to search for jobs in research, museums, academics, government, or nonprofits, and more.

Websites for Art (Studio, Photography, Graphic Design, or Animation) and Music Majors/Graduates

Creative Hotlist: Creative Hotlist can be used by anyone interested in the field or graphic design or art search for positions available across the country. Users can apply for jobs right from the site.

Entertainment Careers: This is a website for anyone looking to secure a job in the entertainment or music industries. For example, users can search for positions in music production, animation/graphic design, and film/TV development.

Mandy: This site can be used by prospective journalists and communications professionals to search for jobs. It can also be used to search for positions in acting, dancing, singing, and more. In order to utilize the site, a free account must be created.

Websites for Biology, Marine Biology, Chemistry, and Science Majors/Graduates

American Chemical Society: The American Chemical Society is the largest scientific-based professional association in the world. In addition to providing membership opportunities, it provides an overview of the areas one can delve into with a chemistry degree, such as research, sales, environmental science, law, education, and more.

Biotech Careers: A site specific to those searching for positions in the fields of biology or medicine is Biotech Careers. It allows job seekers to search by location and keyword. It is free for anyone to use.

Environmental Career Opportunities: Geared towards those interested in pursuing a career in the environmental sciences, such as conservation, engineering, advocacy, and law, individuals can utilize this site to search for available jobs. Job application instructions are embedded within the job postings.

Websites for Business (Economics, Real Estate, Banking, etc.) and Accounting, Majors/Graduates

Bankjobs: For those looking for jobs or careers in banking, this website can be used to search for positions by keyword or location. The site pulls job listings from other major job search sits (i.e. Monster, Career Builder, etc.), and puts them in one place for one’s viewing and access.

Discover Accounting Discover Accounting is an independent, educational resource for current and prospective accounting career prospects. They provide unbiased accounting career information, education options and guides for becoming some of the various career paths within the accounting field. The link here will bring you to a list of accounting positions that can be searched by location anywhere in the US.

Discover Business: Degrees in finance, accounting, and business administration are in high demand. This site provides a thorough overview of the different types of careers one can find in the business world. Also included on the site are salary data and information about graduate programs offered in the fields of business.

eFinancialCareers: The Wall Street Journal created this site to help individuals interested in finance or business find jobs and careers. It is updated daily and currently has over 10,000 job postings listed from companies all over the world. It also has news articles available in different sectors, job seeking advice, and a guide for recent graduates.

Wiley Efficient Learning : Wiley Efficient Learning offers a career guide for those interested in pursuing a career in finance. The career guide includes information such as salaries or job outlooks for multiple positions. Wiley Efficient Learning also offers exam-preparation materials, available for a fee. Entertainment Careers: This is a website for anyone looking to secure a job in the entertainment or music industries as marketing, advertising, or communications professionals. For example, positions are available in many industries such as publicity/PR, broadcasting, TV/film production, human resources, and radio.

Mandy: This site is for prospective professionals in areas of communications, marketing, advertising, human resources, or public relations to use to search for jobs. In order to utilize the site, a free account must be created.

Marketing Jobs: Marketing Jobs is a tool for students to utilize to search for marketing-related positions by job title and location. Job listings are detailed, and they provide job applicants with the opportunity to apply for positions right from the site.

Mediabistro: Individuals interested in positions in marketing, advertising, or the entertainment industry can utilize this site to search for jobs by specialty, location, or salary. The site also features sections on career advice and online trainings, such as social media marketing, copyrighting, website design and more.

Public Relations Society of America: The Public Relations Society of America is a professional membership organization that provides accreditation and volunteer opportunities for members. The Public Relations Society of America’s job board pulls listings from other major search engines, such as Indeed, to help refine job searches.

Dice: Dice is one of the most well-known job search sites for computer science and IT jobs. It currently has over 70,000 technology-related positions listed, and it typically has over 2.4 million unique users per month. Through this site, users can not only search for jobs, but they can also estimate your salary worth and learn about computer-related skills.

TechCareers: TechCareers has over 150,000 listed job openings in the field of technology, including positions such as analysts, app/web developer, systems engineer, and more. Job seekers can create a free account to apply for positions right from the site.

Websites for Criminal Justice and Homeland Security Majors/Graduates

New Jersey Courts: This website provides a comprehensive list of what jobs are available in the court system in NJ, including managerial, IT, finance, court operations, support staff, or judicial staff.

State of New Jersey – Office of the Attorney General: Here, individuals can peruse a variety of job opportunities available through the NJ Attorney General’s Office, such as in the Division of Consumer Affairs, Division of State Police, Division of Law, Juvenile Justice Commission and more.

USAJOBS: USAJOBS is the largest federal job search site in the country, allowing workers to search for jobs in over 500 organizations, including the FBI, CIA, EPA, Department of Education, Treasury, etc. You’ll need to create a free account, to apply for positions right on the site.

Discover Early Childhood EDU: DEC EDU is a guide to all things related to a career in Early Childhood Education. You will find details on what you can expect on a daily basis as a professional educator in a number of positions, such as a preschool teacher or a high-level administrator.  You can search educational and license requirements by state and also find resources including scholarships, salary information and related to trends in the field. The careers tab on the dashboard will allow you to search for positions by location.

HigherEdJobs : This website offers student affairs professionals and individuals interested in starting/continuing their careers in higher education a place to search for jobs. Job seekers can search for opportunities by location, institutions, job category, or job type. The site also offers news articles, employment data, and career resources for individuals to peruse.

K-12 Jobspot: K-12 Jobspot is a site that can be used by teaching professionals and other educators to search for jobs across the country. Job seekers can search by subject, profession title, district, or location. When interested in an opportunity, they are then redirected to the district’s size or applitrack system to start an application.

NJSchoolJobs: Another site that helps educators and teaching professionals find open positions in New Jersey is NJSchoolJobs. By creating a free account, interested applicants can apply for jobs right from the website.

The Chronicle of Higher Education: The Chronicle of Higher Education (“The Chronicle”) is the best known trade journal for faculty, staff and administrators in higher education. Click on the link in the upper right side of the home page to access the job listings on the site.

Websites for English and Foreign Language Majors/Graduates

JournalismJobs: JournalismJobs is a site for individuals interested in working as reporters, editors, producers, analysts, or any other positions in journalism. It has over 1,000 job listings available across the country, with over 70 available in the tristate area. Also included on the site are media resources for journalism and articles about careers.

Mandy: This site is for prospective professionals in English, journalism, and any form of communication to use to search for jobs. In order to utilize the site to search for or apply for jobs, a free account must be created.

HealthcareJobsite: With over 200,000 job postings, this site can assist any job seeker on his/her job search for a career in healthcare. After creating a free account, those interested in a job can apply for the position right from the site.

NursingJobs: This website, designed specifically for nurses, allows nurses to search for jobs by location or job area. NursingJobs also posts articles and career advice, as well as an overview for the career options one has as a nurse.

American Statistical Association: This site is for those interested in positions in mathematics or statistics to use during their job searches. Job seekers and applicants can also sign up for a free account to apply for jobs or create a job alert-email system.

Mathematical Association of America: The Mathematical Association of America is a professional membership organization used primarily by professors, teachers, undergraduate/graduate students, and others working in the field of mathematics or statistics. K-12 Jobspot: K-12 Jobspot is a site that can be used by school social workers or mental health professionals to search for jobs in schools across the country. Job seekers can search by profession title, district, or location.

PsychologyJobs: This website is dedicated to helping psychology students and grads find jobs. Positions can be searched for by keyword, location, job function, setting, or client age group. Job seekers can also peruse the career advice articles that have been posted on the site.

  • The State of New Jersey, Office of the Attorney General: Here, a variety of job opportunities are listed which are available through the NJ Attorney General’s Office.

(Note – Look for the link at the top of the page labeled “Interviews”.) In order to access the numerous interview questions and preparatory material available, a free account must be created.
  • Common Job Interview Questions and Best Answers (20 Examples)“: Through this zety article, you can learn the best ways to answer the most common interview questions.
  • US News: US News has a money/careers section on its website, which includes interviewing tips and techniques. Another article to consider is ‘Job Interview Mistakes to Avoid,’ which delineates things that should not be done when being interviewed. At the bottom of the article is also a list of DO’s and DON’Ts for interviewing.

Cover Letters

  • The Balance: The Balance provides readers with an overview of the various ways that cover letters can be formatted (with samples) as well as a guide on how to customize a cover letter.

Salaries

  • Bureau of Labor Statistics: The Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), a product of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, can be used to discover the details and requirements for hundreds of professions in the US. Included for each occupation are the average salary amounts and job outlook.
  • Career One Stop: Another Bureau of Labor Statistics site is Career One Stop, which can be used to further explore a variety of occupations. Within these job descriptions and overviews are the projected employment rates for each area, salary information, required education/experience, and more.
  • Pay Scale: Through Pay Scale, individuals can find out their salary worth for free after entering some information to describe themselves and their current employment positions.
