Job Title

Temporary Student Intern with a Work with a large, mission-driven public agency that supports essential water, environmental, and infrastructure services for a major metropolitan region

Location

San Jose, CA (Onsite)

Assignment Details

Duration: 960 Hours in a fiscal year
Work Schedule: Part-Time: 15/hrs+ per week

Role Overview

Workforce Development Intern within Human Resources, supporting the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of employee development programs. The role focuses on learning program operations, creating learning/marketing content, analyzing training data, and contributing to workforce capability-building initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Support Workforce Development programs, tools, and initiatives

Create marketing and communication materials (flyers, newsletters, toolkits, surveys, invitations)

Analyze training data and generate reports with insights and recommendations

Research learning tools, training content, and external resources

Identify and implement process improvements (e.g., workflow organization, trackers)

Assist in planning and execution of training sessions, including classroom training

Contribute to employee development and learning initiatives across the organization

 

Required Experience

Required:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (any discipline)

Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills

Organized, self-starter with a willingness to learn

Ability to engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders

Interest in people development / learning & development

Preferred:

Experience creating marketing or communication materials

Familiarity with tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite

Exposure to photography, videography, or video editing

Experience working with data analysis or reporting

Interest or exposure to training, HR, or workforce development programs

Required Skills

Technical Skills

Microsoft Office / Google Workspace (especially Sheets/Excel for tracking & analysis)

Basic data analysis and reporting skills

Content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Suite – preferred)

Familiarity with LMS or digital learning tools (nice to have)

Research skills (online learning resources, training content curation)

Soft Skills:

Strong communication (written & verbal)

Analytical thinking and problem-solving

Initiative and self-motivation

Creativity and innovation ( “thinking outside the box”)

Organizational and time management skills

Interpersonal skills; ability to engage with new people

Adaptability and eagerness to learn.

Education / Certifications

Required:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (any field)

No specific certifications required

Relevant coursework in HR, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related fields is beneficial (implicit from role context)
