Job description

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has Summer 2027 opportunities for students who will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program for Fall 2027. Summer interns gain hands-on experience at our Woodbridge, NJ Headquarters.

Positions in our Finance & Budgets department welcome majors that include but are not limited to Finance/Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration, and related fields. Over the course of this internship, you will influence several of our Finance units. You will build skills translating data into opportunities, enhancing our risk and controls framework.

 

On-the-job experience

Work may include applying data analytics to assess operational performance, developing business cases for new digital features, creating dashboards to track key metrics, and updating website content for core Authority services. Over the course of a 10-week rotation/assigned section, some of the exposure includes traffic and revenue analysis, toll collector audits, accounts receivable/payable processes, financial reporting, and collaboration on a capstone project presented to Authority leadership.

 

Responsibilities

Partner with business leaders and enterprise service organizations to support product development and strategic decision-making

Build strong influencing and communication skills through collaboration with key stakeholders and leadership

Work with Technology teams to evaluate and improve processes, experiment with new ways of working, and leverage emerging technologies

Develop skills in financial modeling, data analytics, reporting automation, and data visualization tools

Provide analytical and operational support to assigned departments, including work on small projects or components of larger initiatives

Collaborate with staff at various levels of the organization to complete tasks and assignments effectively

Apply data analytics to assess operational performance and support the development of business cases for new digital features

Create dashboards to track key metrics and assist with updates to content supporting core Authority services

Participate in a structured rotation program with exposure to traffic and revenue analysis, toll collector audits, accounts receivable and payable processes, and financial reporting

Contribute to a capstone project presented to Authority leadership

 

Career Progression

Full-Time/Part-Time Job Opportunities: Interns may transition to full-time, part-time, or Fall/Spring Aide positions after their summer experience.

 

Do I have to be enrolled in school to apply?

  • You must be a continuing enrolled student to qualify.

 

What is the duration of the Finance Summer Aide program?

  • May to August 2026. The NJTA works with students on flexible start/end dates based on a student’s leave and return dates to college (Fall and Spring opportunities will vary)

 

Is this a remote or onsite position?

  • The Summer Analysts for the Finance & Budgets department will work onsite at the NJTA headquarters building located at 1 Turnpike Plaza, Woodbridge, NJ. Summer Analysts are not eligible to work remote.

 

Is this a paid position?

  • Yes. All Summer Aides will receive a rate based on years of education completed. The hourly rate is between $20/hr. and $23/hr. The standard work week is Monday to Friday.
