Research Assistant positions in single cell genomics and bioengineering

 

A Research Assistant position is available in the Yun laboratory at the Houston Methodist Research Institute jointly with EMPIRI, a biotech company in Houston. Houston Methodist is an academic medical center that is affiliated with the Weill Cornell Medical College and the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell University.  The research institute provides the infrastructure and support for translational research in a highly dynamic environment. It houses the technology and resources needed to make innovative breakthroughs in important areas of human health, including cancer, nanomedicine, regenerative medicine, neurosciences, Immunotherapy, and cardiovascular medicine.

Dr. Kyuson Yun’s laboratory studies cancer using genetically engineered mouse models and fresh patient samples.  The long-term goal of the lab is to develop novel cancer therapies and diagnostic tools through foundational discoveries and technology development.   

Ongoing project for funding for this open position is focused on evaluating an ex vivo human tumor culture system and performing deep histological and molecular analyses.

Candidates with a strong background in tissue culture, histological techniques (including immunohistochemistry and sectioning), and molecular biology/biochemistry are strongly encouraged to apply.  We seek team members who share our passion for research, ability to learn quickly,  strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and independence.  A strong understanding of tumor immunology, molecular biology/biochemistry, or single cell analysis is highly desired.   Successful candidates must have outstanding communication and organizational skills, enjoy working independently while supportive of team efforts, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment. Strong work ethics and a keen sense of responsibility, adventure, and humor are also required. 

 

For new college graduates, a minimum of a two-year commitment is required.
