Position Overview

LRE & Companies is seeking a high-performing student for a paid, in-person internship focused on real estate acquisitions, retail site selection, and development. This role is designed for someone who wants meaningful exposure to live deals and is serious about building a career in commercial real estate.

This is not a passive internship. The right candidate will work directly with our team on active projects, market research, site evaluation, pipeline tracking, and real-world deal activity. We are looking for someone sharp, hardworking, curious, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Research markets, retail corridors, and development opportunities
  • Assist in identifying potential acquisition, redevelopment, and land opportunities
  • Support site selection efforts for retail and restaurant users
  • Help analyze demographics, traffic counts, access, visibility, competition, and surrounding land uses
  • Prepare market summaries, site packages, and internal research materials
  • Track leads, opportunities, and follow-up activity
  • Assist with broker, property owner, tenant, and ownership research
  • Support due diligence related to zoning, entitlements, ownership, and preliminary feasibility
  • Help organize deal pipeline information and internal reporting
  • Work closely with senior team members on live projects and active assignments

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field
  • Strong academic performance
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with research, outreach, and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Excel, Google Workspace, and basic presentation materials
  • Strong interest in commercial real estate, retail development, acquisitions, or brokerage
  • Based in the Bay Area or able to commute to San Rafael

Compensation

This is a paid internship. Compensation will be based on experience, skill set, and availability.
