Medical/Surgical Assistant Internship

Duration: 1-2 years

Location: This position will work out of Alpharetta.

Practice Summary:

Atlanta Skin Cancer Specialists is a referral based Dermatologic Surgery Practice that specializes in the Mohs Micrographic Surgery. This surgery involves a repeated series of surgical excisions followed by microscopic examination of the tissue to assess if any tumor cells remain. Once the skin cancer has been removed from a patient, there is the reconstructive surgery that immediately follows.

Program Overview

This internship will provide the opportunity to connect with and work alongside a board certified surgeon and Emory School of Medicine fellow, and receive hands-on training and education on the following:

  • Patient medical history*
  • EMR training
  • Sterile technique
  • Wound care
  • Surgical assisting
  • Lectures on present and relevant medical topics
  • Possibility for a letter of recommendation for further education
