Essential Functions
This credit-bearing humanities internship offers hands-on, resume-building experience through placements with a variety of community partners. Students work with a mentor, contribute to real projects, and apply classroom learning while developing transferable skills such as critical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, ethical reasoning, and teamwork in professional settings.
Must participate in Humanities Internship Symposium and the end-of-semester showcase.
Must enroll in one of the following courses concurrently: ART 4530, ENGL 4800, HIST 4920, HUMN 4900, LLS 4900, MEDH 4990, RELI 4000, SPAN 4800, WLL 4800

Additional Duties
Duties will vary depending on internship site. Students will coordinate specific duties with academic advisor, faculty member, or internship coordinator and the internship site supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least at Sophomore standing (27+ credits)
- Be in good academic standing
- Be an undergraduate student with a major in one of the following: BA in Studio Art and Art History, Black Studies, English, History, Interdisciplinary Studies (with humanities focus), International Studies (with a Global Religious Studies concentration), Latin/Latin American Studies, Medical Humanities, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, World Languages*
- Must be in their declared major (above) for at least one semester prior to the internship.
- Whether engaging in an internship off-campus, or on-campus with a community partner in the CEC, internship opportunities must be with an organization external to UNO.
- Internship responsibilities and duties must be relevant to humanities.
- Commit to a consistent internship schedule not to exceed 150 hrs in a single semester.
- Maintain reliable transportation to the internship site.
Students with more than one major can participate but one of their majors must be in the humanities listed above.
Students participating in multidisciplinary majors must have a humanities focus.
