A gym front desk attendant manages member interactions, handles administrative tasks, and ensures a welcoming and organized environment for gym patrons.

Core Duties

Customer Service: The front desk attendant is the first point of contact for members and guests, greeting them, answering questions, and providing information about gym services, classes, and membership options. They assist with member check-ins, issue membership cards, and help resolve any customer concerns or complaints.
Administrative Tasks: Attendants process payments and maintain accurate membership records. They may also track member attendance, issue receipts, and assist with gym software systems for scheduling and payments.
Facility Maintenance: Front desk staff help maintain a clean and organized gym environment. This includes tidying the reception area, ensuring equipment is stocked, and sometimes assisting with cleaning tasks on the gym floor or locker rooms.
Operational Support: They may assist with opening and closing the gym, monitoring member access, ensuring proper identification, and supporting other staff with daily operations. Some roles also involve minor sales tasks, such as promoting memberships or gym programs.

Required Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with members and staff
  • Organizational and multitasking abilities to manage bookings, payments, and inquiries efficiently 
  • Computer literacy for using scheduling software, membership databases, and payment systems 
  • Problem-solving and stress management to handle busy periods and member issues calmly 
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as reaching, bending, or lifting light equipment if required
