Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC) is hiring a team of counseling interns who will serve an important role in assisting various student services programs within the counseling department.

Interns will be assigned to a primary area (General, CalWORKs, EOPS, College Promise, etc.) but may rotate to different areas throughout the academic year to meet student and department needs and to provide candidates with an opportunity to obtain experience in a variety of student services. Interns will work under the supervision of counseling faculty and staff, participate in training, and interact with LATTC’s diverse student population.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be in good academic standing with a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Full-time graduate students in an accredited program pursuing a degree in counseling, educational counseling, counseling psychology, social work (MSW), or related fields are highly preferred.
  • Candidates must be comfortable using Microsoft Office and/or Google Office Suite and be willing to learn different computer software.
  • Candidates must possess strong listening and organizational skills, demonstrate initiative and a desire to learn, and be able to work with students from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Candidates must be able to work 8-20 hours/week.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with the daily operations of counseling offices by greeting and screening students for appointments. Answer inquiries in person, via email and/or by phone. Provide current and prospective LATTC students with accurate information about the application process, academic deadlines, and Student Success and Support Programs.
  • Develop promotional flyers, informational handouts, and other department materials.
  • Maintain and grow social media channels such as Instagram.
  • Shadow academic counselors during student appointments and workshops.
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of informational sessions. Provide logistical support for events sponsored by assigned programs and serve as a representative and liaison during campus events.
