🌟 Now Hiring: COOK – Emergency Appointment (Los Angeles County Probation Department) 🌟

 

The Los Angeles County Probation Department is urgently recruiting qualified Cooks to help support critical food service operations. This is an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact while serving youth and communities across LA County.

 

🕒 Filing Period:

June 9, 2026 at 8:00 AM PT – June 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM PT

🍽 About the Role:

Under an emergency hiring authority, Cooks will prepare, cook, and serve meals in institutional settings, support special diet needs, maintain safe food handling standards, and may supervise food service workers or youth participants. Successful performance during the first 90 days may lead to permanent appointment.

 

💼 Minimum Requirements (One of the following):

• Completion of a 3‑year ACFEF‑AC approved cook apprenticeship, OR

• An ACFEF‑AC culinary certificate (48+ units) + 1 year of experience, OR

Three years of quantity food preparation experience (including 1 year at the journey level).

 

📍 Location: Los Angeles County, CA

💰 Salary: $3,411.82 – $4,588.10 monthly

A background check is required, supporting documents must be submitted within 7 days, and applicants must be willing to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
