Position Type: Full-time, seasonal

  • Full summer (June 1-Aug 1)
  • 5 weeks at the beginning of summer (June 1- July 4)
  • 4 weeks at the end of summer (July 5-Aug 1)
  • Mandatory staff training (May 25-30)

Supervision: Clinic Coordinator

Job Summary: Many of the Campers that we service at Camp Blessing Texas are medically fragile, and/or have other medical needs that require attendance throughout camp. Our Campers wouldn’t be able to participate in camp without the care that the Med Shed Staff provides. Each week candidates would assist in training the volunteer nurses, physicians, and EMTs on Camp Blessing’s medication management, medication distribution system, check in protocols, and administration of medication protocols. Miscellaneous health care of participants will also be taken care of by Clinic Staff, such as tending to scraped knees and being on-call.

Job Duties:

  • Medication management/distribution
  • Being on-call for assigned cabin(s) at night
  • Train new volunteers on Camp Blessing’s clinical management protocols
  • Be eager to learn more medical information from the volunteers
  • Run Med Shed check-in
  • Receives, screens, assesses, and provides care to campers and other camp personnel
  • Takes and records vital signs, as appropriate to clinic operations
  • May assist with routine medical procedures, as appropriate to training, supervision and/or certification
  • Collects, verifies, records, and maintains data on clinical activity; prepares associated reports as required
  • Maintains inventories of supplies, as required to support day-to-day unit clinical and administrative operations
  • Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of clinic facilities and equipment; communicates any maintenance and repair needs to the full time staff
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Know when to call 911

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled nursing, pre-med, or other health related students
  • Must have/obtain advanced CPR certification
  • Previous experience in working with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities is preferred
  • Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity
  • Must be motivated to help serve others and appropriately process constructive criticism
  • Ability to lift/transfer campers that may weigh 150 or more pounds, if needed

Pay and Benefits:

  • Starting at $200/week and up based on experience and tenure with Camp Blessing Texas
  • Free room and board during while working
  • Creating professional networking with college students from across the Country
  • Eligible to receive clinical rotation hours

All successful candidates must be able to pass a background check and will be required to complete a staff training and orientation program.
