Prof. Sciarra Elected to National Nurse Educator Board

Erica Sciarra, Ph.D., DNP, RN, A-GNP-C, CNE, assistant professor in the Department of Nursing, was recently elected to serve on the National Consortium of Academic Nurse Educators (NC-ANE) Board of Directors and as co-chair of the NC-ANE Membership Committee. Sciarra is a founding member of NC-ANE.

In her role, Sciarra will contribute to strategic growth, strengthen member engagement, and support the organization’s mission. Her work will aim to elevate academic nurse educators’ status relative to equitable workload, compensation, benefits, recognition of teaching, scholarship, and service. This role complements her service on the Board of Directors for the New Jersey League for Nursing, as both positions allow her to advocate for excellence in nursing education, faculty development, and a sustainable nursing workforce.

The National Consortium of Academic Nurse Educators, Inc. (NC-ANE), is a group leading innovation for the future of nursing education and addressing the shortage of nursing faculty. Its mission is to advocate for academic nurse educators as advanced practice nurses, who are competent in their specialty, through research endeavors and collaboration with other professional organizations and partnerships with various stakeholders.

The New Jersey League for Nursing, Inc. was founded in 1915 with the mission to promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the health of our state.

Sciarra is the coordinator of the Nurse Educator program (MSN and DNP electives) and program director of the Nurse Faculty Loan Program.
