Monmouth University’s OTD Program Receives ACOTE Accreditation

Monmouth University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program (OTD) was recently granted initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

The accreditation status is for a seven-year period and comes as Monmouth prepares to graduate its first cohort of occupational therapy program graduates this May.

“We are delighted to receive initial accreditation from ACOTE, which recognizes the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. This accreditation reflects our program’s commitment to providing students with a top-tier education and ensuring they are well prepared to excel in the field of occupational therapy,” said John Patro, OTD, OTR/L, program chair and associate professor.

In order to achieve accreditation, occupational therapy programs must undergo a comprehensive evaluation focusing on program quality, curriculum, faculty qualifications, and student outcomes.

ACOTE ensures quality occupational therapy education by developing accreditation standards and verifying implementation to support the preparation of competent occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.
