Dougherty named to InsiderNJ Millennial List

Dougherty Lands on Insider 100: Millennials List

Zachary Dougherty, a junior majoring in history and political science with a concentration in international relations, was again included in InsiderNJ’s Insider 100: Millennials List. It is Dougherty’s third year being recognized as a leader among “a group that has truly come into its own during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

In its profile of Dougherty, InsiderNJ noted, “the Monmouth County native […] has been a key advocate for gun control legislation and continues to be a voice on issues facing students.”

Dougherty is leading a statewide effort to establish New Jersey’s first legislative advisory youth council, which would provide a forum for NJ youth to participate in the democratic process. He is also collaborating with Ocean County’s law enforcement, student governments, and interfaith community leaders to implement new programs that combat the rise in youth bias hate crimes across New Jersey communities.

“Monmouth empowers its students to become active citizens in their community, nation, and world,” said Dougherty, who is involved on campus in the Political Science Club and Model United Nations. “The personal growth and proficiency I’ve gained at Monmouth has already begun to open exciting doors, and I’m excited to see what will follow.”

Also representing Monmouth on the Insider 100: Millennials List for a third year is Samantha DeAlmeida ’12 ’14M ’18M.
