
Wound Management & Suturing Workshop

Cost: $$125 / $95 for MU students, alumni, and preceptors
This course is designed to provide the Advanced Practice Nurse or Healthcare provider with hands-on instruction in wound management. The instructor will focus on factors affecting wound healing, selection of wound closure devices, wound aftercare, CDC tetanus guidelines, suture removal guidelines and pitfalls, and special considerations in wound closure.
Key topic areas include:
- Principles of wound assessment and closure
- Wound closure techniques
- The use of local anesthesia in wound closure
- Guidelines for the use of tissue adhesive
- Review of prophylactic pharmaceutical treatment
- Factors effecting wound healing and follow up care of the wound
Presenter: Rose Knapp, DNP, RN, APN-C – MSN Program Director, Associate Professor, Graduate Faculty – Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies. Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Specializing in Urgent Care, Emergency Care and Primary Care.
Learning Outcome: Upon conclusion of this program participants will apply the knowledge gained in the assessment and management of wounds.
Successful Completion: Participants will attend 95% of the program and complete an online evaluation to receive contact hours.
Contact Hours: 3.0 contact hours will be provided for Nurses and certificate of completion will be provided for Health Care Practitioners.
