This bold, anarchic production is brought to you by a creative powerhouse; adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Rufus Norris. Contains scenes of a sexual
    nature, violence and filthy language.

  • National Theatre Live: THE DEEP BLUE SEA

    Helen McCrory (Medea and The Last of the Haussmans at the National Theatre, Penny Dreadful, Peaky Blinders) returns to the National Theatre in Terence Rattigan’s devastating masterpiece, playing one of the greatest female roles in contemporary drama. Tom Burke (War and Peace, The Musketeers) also features in Carrie Cracknell’s critically acclaimed new production. When Hester Collyer is found by her neighbors in the aftermath of a failed suicide attempt, the story of her tempestuous affair with a former RAF pilot and the breakdown of her marriage to a High Court judge begins to emerge. With it comes a portrait of need, loneliness and long-repressed passion. Behind the fragile veneer of post-war civility burns a brutal sense of loss and longing.

    Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young
    prodigy, arrives in Vienna, the music capital of the world – and he’s
    determined to make a splash. Awestruck by his genius, court composer Antonio
    Salieri has the power to promote his talent or destroy his name. Seized by
    obsessive jealousy he begins a war with Mozart, with music, and ultimately,
    with God.
     After winning multiple Olivier and Tony
    Awards when it had its premiere at the National Theatre in 1979, Amadeus
    was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film.

    is Joan of Arc, broadcast live from the Donmar Warehouse. 
    Bernard Shaw’s
    classic play follows the life and trial of a young country girl who declares a
    bloody mission to drive the English from France. As one of the first
    Protestants and nationalists, she threatens the very fabric of the feudal
    society and the Catholic Church across Europe. 
    Josie Rourke (Coriolanus, Les Liaisons Dangereuses) directs Gemma Arterton (Gemma Bovery,
    Nell Gwynn, Made in Dagenham) as Joan of Arc in this electrifying
    production.

  • National Theatre of London: No Man’s Land (Live in HD)

    Following their hit run on Broadway, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart return to the West End stage in Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land, broadcast live to cinemas from Wyndham’s Theatre, London.

    One summer’s evening, two aging writers, Hirst and Spooner, meet in a Hampstead pub and continue their drinking into the night at Hirst’s stately house nearby. As the pair become increasingly inebriated,
    and their stories increasingly unbelievable, the lively conversation soon turns into a revealing power game, further complicated by the return home of two sinister younger men.

    Also starring Owen Teale and Damien Molony, don’t miss this glorious revival of Pinter’s comic classic. The broadcast will be followed by an exclusive Q&A with the cast and director Sean Mathias.

  • National Theatre Live: Hedda Gabler (Broadcast in HD)

Tony Award-winning director Ivo van Hove (A View from the Bridge at the Young Vic Theatre) returns to National Theatre Live screens with a modern production of Ibsen’s masterpiece. Ruth Wilson (Luther, The Affair, Jane Eyre) plays the title role in a new version by Patrick Marber (Notes on a Scandal, Closer).

  • National Theatre of London: Twelfth Night (Live in HD)

    Tamsin Greig is Malvolia in a new twist on Shakespeare’s classic comedy of mistaken identity.
    A ship is wrecked on the rocks. Viola is washed ashore but her twin brother Sebastian is lost. Determined to survive on her own, she steps out to explore a new land. So begins a whirlwind of mistaken identity and unrequited love.
    The nearby households of Olivia and Orsino are overrun with passion. Even Olivia’s upright housekeeper Malvolia is swept up in the madness. Where music is the food of love, and nobody is quite what they seem, anything proves possible. Simon Godwin (NT Live: Man and Superman, NT Live: The Beaux’ Stratagem) directs this joyous new production with Tamsin Greig (Friday Night Dinner, Black Books, Episodes) as a transformed Malvolia. an ensemble cast that includes Daniel Rigby (Flowers, Jericho), Tamara Lawrence (Undercover), Doon Mackichan (Smack the Pony) and Daniel Ezra (The Missing, Undercover).

  • National Theatre Live: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (Broadcast Live in HD)

    Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, The Woman in Black), Joshua McGuire (The Hour) and David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Witness for the Prosecution) star in Tom Stoppard’s brilliantly funny situation comedy, broadcast live from The Old Vic theatre in London.
     
    David Leveaux’s new production marks the 50th anniversary of the play that made a young Tom Stoppard’s name overnight.
     
    Against the backdrop of Hamlet, two hapless minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, take centre stage.  As the young double act stumble their way in and out of the action of Shakespeare’s iconic drama, they become increasingly out of their depth as their version of the story unfolds.

  • Angels in America Part 1, Millennium Approaches

    America in the mid-1980s. In the midst of the AIDS crisis and a conservative Reagan administration, New Yorkers grapple with life and death, love and sex, heaven and hell. 

    Andrew Garfield (Silence, Hacksaw Ridge) plays Prior Walter along with a cast including Denise Gough (People, Places and Things), Nathan Lane (The Producers), James McArdle (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Russell Tovey (The Pass). 

    This new staging of Tony Kushner’s multi-award winning two-part play is directed by Olivier and Tony award winning director Marianne Elliott (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and War Horse). 

    Part Two: Perestroika, will also be broadcast on August 16.
    Run time: about 3 hours and 40 minutes with two 15-minute intervals.
