Aned Ladino, Ph.D., is a Lecturer of Spanish in the Department of World Languages and Cultures. Her teaching and research are grounded in a decolonial framework that engages with Spanish language and Latin American cultural production, with particular attention to the lived experiences and expressive practices of Afro-descendant and Indigenous communities in the Andean region. Her primary research interests include female voices in literature, culture, and sound studies, with an emphasis on hybrid narratives involving race, gender, and queer theoretical frameworks. Her current research project, Afro-Andean Feminism, Sonic, and Diasporic: Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, explores how sound functions as a powerful tool of expression and resistance in the literary and musical productions of Afro-Andean women from Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru during the 20th and 21st centuries.
