Monmouth University's Marjorie K. Unterberg School of  Nursing and Health Studies, The Center for Professional Development in Nursing and Health, will present a three-hour Legal Nurse Consultant course on Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Club Dining Room of Magill Commons. 

Three contact hours will be provided. Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies at Monmouth University is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver, by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Provider number: P242-5/12-15.

There is an expanding market for Legal Nurse Consultants. This class is designed to explore key topics in this specialty area of nursing. It is suitable for individuals who would like to update their knowledge and for those who are getting started in this field.

  • Who Wins Nursing Malpractice Cases and Why?

Karen Apy, BSN, RN-BC, CNLCP, LNCC

  • Seven Systems of Success for Marketing

NJ Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (NJALNC) current and past members of the executive board will participate in a panel exploring the following areas: 

  • Practice settings for Legal Nurse Consultants.
  • Developing an independent practice - strategies for marketing and billing.
  • Chart review and written reports good practices.

Presenters:

Patricia Iyer, MSN, RN, LNCC is a legal nurse consultant with 25 years of experience assisting attorneys who handle medical malpractice and personal injury cases. As a legal nurse consultant, she has written or edited over 185 books, chapters, articles, online courses, and case studies. 

Karen Apy, BSN, RN-BC, CNLCP, LNCC has practiced as a legal nurse consultant since 2001, working in areas of personal injury, nursing/medical malpractice, mass torts, life care planning, and education. She has presented numerous lectures and contributed to various publications and online LNC courses.
