Student Scholarship Week 2022

Urban Coast Institute Heidi Lynn Sculthorpe Scholars Seminar

The Urban Coast Institute offers competitive funding opportunities for students of all disciplines to work with the UCI as a Heidi Lynn Sculthorpe Scholar. UCI HLS Scholars form a cohort of student-faculty collaborators that conduct research and projects that support stewardship of healthy, productive, and resilient coastal ecosystems and communities. In 2021, the UCI supported 7 student research projects ranging from the use of environmental DNA to detect turtles in local coastal lakes to Offshore Wind Energy Policy. This virtual seminar will highlight the research results. Each student will prepare a research abstract describing their project and results that will be posted on the UCI event website in advance of the seminar. During the seminar, each student will provide a 10 minute overview of their research topic followed by a question and answer period.

During this open classroom, participants will be invited to view a class where the students from PE 215 will be teaching each other the different Fitnessgram tests. You are welcome to come in PE attire and participate too.

Department of English Graduate Session

This symposium, organized by the English MA -MFA program, will highlight the achievement of our students across all English concentrations. Students from the Creative Writing program will read from their manuscripts and other works of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, and students from the Literature and Rhetoric tracts will present from their thesis or other research projects. This in-person event will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend.
