Asad Whitehead, senior music industry student, was recently awarded a $10,000 Live Nation Scholarship from the entertainment company and its partner, the Music Forward Foundation. The award supports students pursuing careers in the five core areas of Live Nation’s business: concert promotion, venue operation, sponsorship, ticketing, and artist management.
“This scholarship adds credibility to my future endeavors in the music industry. It serves as a validation of my talent and potential, which I think will open doors to further opportunities and partnerships,” said Whitehead.
At Monmouth University, Whitehead is involved with multiple student-run media outlets and is developing a live entertainment brand, Versatile Arts & Entertainment, which embraces the culture of various art forms to create a diverse and inclusive platform for artistic expression.
“This would not have been possible without the resources and guidance that Monmouth provides for me and other students. Through various hands-on experiences such as Hawk TV, Blue Hawk Records, and WMCX, I have been able to learn what it means to work in the music industry,” he added.
Whitehead is one of six scholarship recipients for 2023 and is planning to invest the scholarship in ways that benefit him artistically and professionally.
“Asad has fully leaned in to the variety of our program offerings, and proactively pursued areas that align with his interests. We are thrilled that he was awarded this by one of our partners, Live Nation. It is a pleasure to work with Asad, and an honor to support him in all his endeavors,” said Joe Rapolla, specialist professor and chair of the Department of Music and Theatre Arts.
