Professor Kristin Bluemel was the featured speaker at the University of East Anglia’s Twentieth Century Research Seminar, presenting her paper “Theorizing Rural Modernity: New Modernist Encounters with Geography.”
An intervention in the emerging interdisciplinary field of rural humanities, Bluemel’s paper called upon new modernist scholars of literature, art, and book history to enrich and correct emerging conversations in the social sciences about rural Britain’s experience of twentieth-century modernity.
The Twentieth Century Research Seminar was established in 2018 by the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia and quickly became a premier international forum for sharing cutting edge research in the fields of modern and contemporary literary and cultural studies.
