Peter S. Reinhart, Esq., director of the Kislak Real Estate Institute at Monmouth University is pleased and proud to announce that a team of Monmouth University students took third place in last week’s Villanova Real Estate Challenge. The event brought together universities throughout the nation including:  Cornell, Drexel, Florida State University, Lehigh University, Monmouth University, New York University, Penn State University, University of North Carolina, The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, University of Southern California, Villanova University and Virginia Commonwealth University.  The winning team was Lehigh University followed by Wharton in second.

This was the first time that Monmouth had entered into a team competition involving real estate majors. Team members were seniors Anderson Haxton and Jason Miller, and juniors Lawrence Vecchio and Christopher Cianfarini.

On Monday morning, each team was given the identical real estate case problem to analyze and prepare both a written and oral presentation to a panel of judges. The competition rules did not allow for any faculty or outside assistance other than any free research available on the internet or in their course materials. The written presentations were delivered Thursday evening followed by oral presentations to the judges Friday morning. Following the morning round, four finalists were selected and oral presentations delivered Friday afternoon. The winners were announced immediately following the afternoon round.

Professor Reinhart said, “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication our team demonstrated. They worked throughout the day and night to analyze a very complex and challenging problem. Their solutions demonstrated incredible creativity and knowledge of real estate. I am also very grateful to Dr. Donald Moliver, the founder of the Kislak Real Estate Institute and now Dean of the Leon Hess Business School, for his vision in establishing the real estate concentration and his steadfast support of the program. I also commend our faculty for giving the team the knowledge and background to enable them to analyze and develop their proposal.”
