Jiwon Kim, Ph.D., associate professor of curriculum and instruction in the School of Education, and Christine Grabowski, adjunct professor of curriculum and instruction in the School of Education and teacher in Hazlet Public schools, will run sessions at the New Jersey Council for Social Studies (NJCSS) on “Professional Development on Inquiry Through the 2020 NJ Standards for K-12 Social Studies Teachers” July 7.

Kim and Grabowski have served on the New Jersey stakeholders group for 2020 New Jersey Standards. They were invited by the group to offer this professional development and help Somerville and North Plainfield school districts implement the state’s new initiatives of teaching climate change through inquiry-based and interdisciplinary approach. Teachers will receive a professional development certificate for their participation in the interactive sessions of Part I: “Inquiry and Active Learning Strategies,” and Part II: “Interdisciplinary Connections.”
