West Long Branch, NJ (January 19, 2012) Monmouth University is pleased to announce that its second phase of the Hawk Walk Brick Campaign has raised $32,982 for students. Since the Hawk Walk began in late 2009, $71,512 has been raised and awarded.
Dr. Jeffery Mills, vice president for University Advancement, presented two separate checks, each for $16,491 to representatives of the Student Government Association and Student Alumni Association at a presentation ceremony November 9, 2011.
The Student Alumni Association will use the money to fund a $25,000 endowed scholarship. The Student Government Association is using their funds to enhance extracurricular student activities.
“The Hawk Walk is a wonderful opportunity for alumni and friends to have a permanent marker on the historic Monmouth campus, while supporting Monmouth students,” said Dr. Mills.
The next installation of personalized bricks for the Hawk Walk, located along the walkway to the Cedar Avenue underpass in front of Monmouth University’s Wilson Hall, will take place in time for Commencement on May 16, 2012. New orders must be finalized by February 1, 2012 to be installed before the formal Commencement ceremony. To purchase a brick, visit www.monmouth.edu/bricks or call 732-571-7528. All of the profits from the tax-deductible brick purchase directly support Monmouth University students. An 8” x 8” brick is $300, while a 4” x 8” brick is $200.
