Biography:

Paul Dement is the Director of Government and Community Relations at Monmouth University.  He is the primary University liaison with federal, state, and local elected officials as well as government agencies and regional community organizations. He serves as the University’s chief lobbyist and advocate while reporting to the President of the University and operating as political and policy advisor to campus leadership on government and community issues.

Prior to joining Monmouth University, Mr. Dement served as District Director to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, managing the Congressman’s three New Jersey District offices as well as acting as his chief New Jersey representative. He also worked in the Congressman’s Washington, DC office as a Legislative Aide, responsible for issues related to the environment, transportation, veteran affairs, agriculture, and fisheries.

Mr. Dement is a member of the Board of Directors of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council (MODC), 180 Turning Lives Around, the Long Branch Chamber of Commerce, and the Monmouth County Workforce Development Board.  He also serves on the board of the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce (EMACC) Educational Foundation, where he is a former chair, and is a past-president and a current member of the Rotary Club of Long Branch.

He received an M.A. in Public Policy from Monmouth University and a B.A. in Political Science from Penn State University.
