The Center for the Arts in partnership with the University’s Grammy affiliate initiative are pleased to announce the launch of a new Adult Education series offering courses that explore topics that blend leisure and learning. The first course in the series “Writing Memoir” a three-session virtual course that meets on Thursday nights from September 10 – 24 is taught by Monmouth University alumnus Mike Farragher ’88, the author of numerous works of fiction and memoir. The already sold out course will provide registrants with an introduction to basic modes for telling the stories of their lives.
The second offering in the series “Understanding Popular Music” will meet virtually on Thursday nights from Oct. 1-15 and be taught by Professor of English and Popular Music, Ken Womack who is also author of numerous books about the Beatles. Students will enjoy engaging, wide-ranging discussion about the soundtrack of our lives and its past, present, and future.
“We’re delighted to offer the first installment in Monmouth University’s Adult Education series,” said Ken Womack, who is also Coordinator of the University’s Grammy affiliate initiatives. “Each semester we plan to offer new courses devoted to music, the arts, and other aspects of the humanities for our community. This new program will complement our partnership with the Center for the Arts, which provides folks across the MU community and beyond with such offerings as Tuesday Night Record Club, Tuesday Night Book Club, and, for the first time this summer, the MU Summer Music and Arts Festival.”
