The Center for the Arts at Monmouth University has announced that tickets are now on sale for an exclusive area appearance by veteran rock vocalist Terry Ilous and his acoustic band project, The Vagabonds.

Lead singer of XYZ and former lead singer of Great White, Terry Ilous, will perform his latest passion project, TERRY ILOUS & THE VAGABONDS at Monmouth University’s Pollak Theatre 8 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018.  This will be a special and exciting evening of music, fusing favorite classic and hard rock hits with an innovative Flamenco/Latin rhythm and sound.  Imagine acoustic Latin-flavored versions of Whole Lotta Love, Boys of Summer, In Your Eyes, Long Train Runnin’, Ride Like the Wind and more….performed in a warm, intimate and classic gypsy gathering style.

The big, exuberant voice in front of well-known songs by the 1980s-era bands XYZ and Great White, Ilous was a fixture on the L.A. “hair metal” scene and gained a national profile and major label record deal when XYZ earned the coveted position of house band at the legendary Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood. While original songs like Inside Out and What Keeps Me Loving You achieved regular rotation on MTV, the band’s journey to headline status was made possible through its mastery of “songbook standards” by Led Zeppelin and other icons of the album-rock era. For most of the current decade, Terry Ilous also toured extensively as lead singer of 80s contemporaries Great White, replacing that band’s original vocalist Jack Russell. Ilous also has an established a solo career that, with the 2017 release of Gypsy Dreams, was staking out some hitherto unexplored territory beyond the confines of the rock arena. Inspired by the border crossing success of his fellow Frenchmen The Gipsy Kings.

With hits by artists such as Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel, Black Sabbath, the Doobie Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Christopher Cross and more….re-imagined with a Latin beat, the October 19 concert will have clapping your hands, tapping your toes, and dancing in your seat! Joining with Terry on this musical ride are his Vagabonds — some of the finest Latin musicians in the business who have performed with stars like Marc Anthony, Janet Jackson, The Eagles and more. Terry Ilous & The Vagabonds have created a truly unique and exciting take on Classic Rock songs of the 70s and 80s.

Tickets for the October 19 concert featuring Terry Ilous and the Vagabonds are priced at $25 and $35, with a Gold Circle seating option of $50, and can be reserved through the Monmouth University Performing Arts Box Office at 732-263-6889, or online at Tickets for other upcoming Performing Arts events — including the Ultimate Hendrix Tribute of Kiss the Sky (October 13), and the deep-cut Beatles explorations of The Weeklings (November 8)  — are also on sale now.
