This fall, Catapult Shadow Dance Company hosted a masterclass with Monmouth University dance students in Pollak Theatre while in residency developing their new work Angel Heart. The dance troupe was founded in 2009, gained widespread renown when it wowed a national television audience with its performance on Season Eight of NBC’s hit competition “America’s Got Talent.” During the masterclass, the students learned about angles, proximity to the lens and foreshortening. They first learned solo shadows and then transformed themselves into frogs, ducks, dogs and bears. Professor Ekaterina Bronshteyn was appreciative that her students were able to participate in this unique experiential educational opportunity, “It was a remarkable experience to learn about Catapult’s technical process, collaborate with the staff and create our own show behind the screen.”
