Artists are invited to submit original artwork for Monmouth University’s new art exhibit, Diversity Lives Here: Representation Through Art.

The United States is more racially and ethnically diverse than ever before. Subsequently, higher education institutions are now comprised of a more diverse community. Despite an increasingly more diverse population, many colleges and universities (especially predominantly white institutions) have physical spaces that do not represent their own communities. Monmouth University is committed to change! We have dedicated spaces to display jury-selected artwork in every academic building to ensure everyone in the Monmouth University community will see themselves represented and celebrated within our halls.

Student artists (from all backgrounds) are welcomed and encouraged to submit work that reflects on identity, diversity, representation, inclusion, power, equity – or to submit work that highlights historical figures who had to fight for the space to share their ideas and work. As the artwork will be displayed throughout Monmouth University’s campus, artwork coming from students is especially meaningful. All work should be submitted digitally. Selected digital artwork will be printed and hung throughout Monmouth University’s halls. This prompt is intentionally broad and meant to be open to creative interpretation.

Help Monmouth University promote diversity and inclusion. Submit your artwork today!
