I never thought the day would come

When I would miss sitting around

waiting for my class to start

Or the annoying task of filling up gas tank two times a week.

The little things that would normally bother me

Are the ones I suddenly long for

Sitting in a class I don’t want to be in

Waking up early

Trying to find time to do my homework because there isn’t enough time in one day

I never thought the day would come

That I would long for the privilege to sit in the student center with my friends

Because we were told we can’t go

Or that I would have to wait to see my friends who are now home

For months because I am told to stay home

My afternoons that were once filled with

Dealing with lazy bright students, the rush of the school day,

And the enjoyment of spending time with the little kids in my life

Are no longer a reality

But a dream that I never thought I was living in

Till now…
