Alumni Board Welcomes New Members

Three new members join three incumbents for terms beginning July 1.

The results are in from this spring’s Alumni Association Board of Directors voting and three new members will join three incumbents for terms beginning July 1, 2022.

New members Chelsea (Granholm) Kmiecik ’05, ’08M, Michael Fedele ’14, ’15M, and Jeffrey Smith ’94 were each elected to three-year terms while incumbents Bayaan Oluyadi ’13, Nicole Pellegrino Trainor ’99, ’01M,’20Ed.D, and Thomas H. Acerra Jr. ’13 were each reelected to three-year terms.

Thomas H. Acerra Jr. ’13 (incumbent)

Business: Senior Partner and Private Wealth Advisor at Avail Wealth Group

Degree: B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting

Monmouth activities: I was a member of the Accounting Honor Society and worked in the Athletics Department.

Why he serves: I have enjoyed serving the Alumni Association Board of Directors for the last two years and want to continue to add value to our growing alumni body while preparing for the next generation of Monmouth students.

Michael Fedele ’14, ’15M, CPA, M.B.A.

Business: Controller at Metal Alliance, Inc.

Degree: B.S. in Accounting; M.B.A.

Monmouth activities: I played on the men’s lacrosse team, worked as a resident assistant, and was a member of the Accounting Society.

Why he serves: As a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, I intend to help Monmouth University do the following: 1) expand its reach; 2) provide a transformative experience to as many dynamic people as possible; 3) be a source of continued value for alumni; and 4) create more ways to stay involved by strengthening and connecting the school and local communities.

Chelsea (Granholm) Kmiecik ’05, ’08M

Business: Most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer at Discovery Data

Degree: B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing and minor in information technology; M.B.A. with a concentration in finance.

Monmouth activities: I was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Eta Sigma, and Lambda Sigma Tau honors societies and the recipient of the Medallion for Excellence in Marketing Award my senior year. During my undergraduate studies, I was a tutor to other undergraduate students seeking assistance with their classwork.

Why she serves: It’s important to me that Monmouth University continues to thrive for the next generation of students and for the advancement of its alumni. I have always been an ambassador for the University and its alumni through career development and fundraising. I am honored to join the board and contribute my resources and network through a larger platform.

Bayaan Oluyadi ’13 (incumbent)

Business: Principal at KTB Services

Degree: B.S. in Business Administration

Monmouth activities: I was a member of the men’s track and field team, the Accounting Society, and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Why he serves: I wanted to join to the Alumni Association Board of Directors to give back to Monmouth University. I am grateful for the experience Monmouth gave me and the connections I made while attending the University. After two years on the board, I enjoyed being part of the team that contributes to Monmouth’s reputation and identity. Being on the board showed me that a small group can make a difference, and I am honored to continue to be a part of that team.

Nicole Pellegrino Trainor ’99, ’01M, ’20Ed.D. (incumbent)

Business: District SEL Coach for Long Branch Public Schools

Degree: B.A. in Psychology and Education; M.A. in Psychological Counseling; Ed.D. in Educational Leadership

Monmouth activities: As an undergraduate, I was in Theta Phi Alpha. I was president of the Student Activities Board, secretary of the Student Alumni Association, an orientation leader, a member of The Outlook, and I helped edit the yearbook.

Why she serves: I went to Monmouth for my undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees. It means a lot to me to be able to have all of my degrees from an institution that means so much to me. I am a proud Hawk who would do anything to give back to the place that has changed my life. The friendships I have made and the fond memories I have from my days on campus hold a special place in my heart. Monmouth has helped make me into the person I am today.

Jeffrey Smith ’94

Business: Syndication Studio Manager at Premiere Networks/iHeart Media

Degree: B.A. in Communication

Monmouth activities: I was editor of the Shadows yearbook, operations director of WMCX, a writer for the Outlook, and a tour guide for the admission department.

Why he serves: I am a proud Monmouth alumnus who graduated in 1994—the last year before Monmouth College became Monmouth University. I have watched this University grow and now my daughter attends as a marine and environmental biology and policy major and is an Alpha Xi Delta sister. I want to stay very involved with the University and my fellow alumni. I have enjoyed serving on the Alumni Association’s Social Events Committee and will love serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
