article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oldcitypublishing.com\/journals\/jmee-home\/jmee-issue-contents\/jmee-volume-10-number-4-2021\/\">fall issue<\/a> of the <em>Journal of Marine Environmental Engineering<\/em> titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oldcitypublishing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/JMEEv10n4p319-330Mohan.pdf\">Coastal Resiliency Considerations for America\u2019s Four Coasts: Preparing for 2100<\/a>.\u201d In the article, the authors make the case for more widespread reuse of sediments dredged from waterways and ports to counter the effects of sea level rise and climate change along America\u2019s coasts.<\/p>\n<p>Although Herrington and Mohan cite examples of how these materials have been successfully used to replenish eroded wetlands, they note that, \u201cPermitting of these projects can be challenging as projects are typically reviewed by regulatory agencies as \u2018disposal\u2019 or \u2018placement\u2019 projects, as opposed to ecosystem restoration projects, which provide a distinct ecological uplift benefit.\u201d The article calls for policy reforms to encourage the reuse of dredged materials and research that can help quantify the
