Funding is available for projects proposed by students that will be completed under the guidance of a faculty mentor, or projects proposed by a faculty member that will be completed with the support of student researchers.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time this year, two exceptional student proposals\u00a0will be selected to join Monmouth University&#8217;s interdisciplinary summer research <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/student-life\/living-and-learning-community\/\">Living and Learning Community<\/a>. The program allows students to live on campus over the summer with other summer scholars while working collaboratively with a faculty member on a project. Students must be undergraduates with at least two semesters remaining after the summer to be eligible.<\/p>\n<p>The UCI seeks to fund research projects that advance the understanding of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhancing consideration for social justice, diversity,\u00a0equity and inclusion\u00a0as coastal communities\u00a0adjust to\u00a0a changing climate<\/li>\n<li>Risk and resiliency of coastal communities and environments<\/li>\n<li>Coastal migration in the age of climate change<\/li>\n<li>The blue economy<\/li>\n<li>Coastal ecosystem adaptation planning<\/li>\n<li>Financing resilience<\/li>\n<li>Coastal community capacity building to address climate change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Proposals are due by Friday, March 22, at 11:59 p.m. To apply for Heidi Lynn Sculthorpe Scholars Summer Research Grants, <a href=\"https:\/\/my.monmouth.edu\/OfficesServices\/MarineScienceFundingOpportunities\/Pages\/HLS_SRP.aspx\">visit this page<\/a> (Monmouth student\/staff login credentials required). Questions may be directed to UCI Associate Director Thomas Herrington at <a href=\"mailto:therring@monmouth.edu\">therring@monmouth.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Requirements and Additional Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Faculty are encouraged to work with students to submit proposals.\u00a0Students submitting proposals\u00a0must identify a faculty sponsor and mentor\u00a0to oversee their research.<\/li>\n<li>Funding is available for students at University research student rates for up to\u00a010 weeks of work (@$3,120\/student).
