Monmouth University Team Captures First Place in National Academic Competition

A team of students from the Leon Hess Business School and the Kislak Real Estate Institute claimed first place for the second quarter of 2017 in the Real Confidence University Challenge, an academic competition sponsored by the Altus Group.

There are 39 universities participating in this year’s competition, which requires student teams to allocate a hypothetical $1 billion in real estate assets that the team determines will have the highest yield for the coming year. Quarterly prizes are given for the best returns.

The assets were allocated in December 2016 and will be tracked throughout 2017.

The Monmouth University team allocation is heavily invested in the industrial public REIT sector.

Faculty advisors for the team are Kislak Real Estate Institute Director Peter Reinhart and Specialist Professor John D. Burke.
